Chhattisgarh Plans Major Infrastructure Boost with Gems Park, Transport Hub, and Convention Center: Discover More
Chhattisgarh is poised to take a major step toward strengthening its industrial and commercial infrastructure. Under this initiative, progress is underway on plans to establish a Gems and Jewelry Park in Raipur, a modern Transport Nagar in Bilaspur, and a world-class Convention Center in Nava Raipur.
During a meeting held at the Secretariat on Tuesday—presided over by Chief Secretary Vikas Sheel—these proposals received the green signal from the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Evaluation Committee. The committee reviewed several projects aimed at attracting investment to the state, generating employment, and accelerating economic growth.
One of the key proposals involves developing a modern Gems and Jewelry Park within the premises of the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (Mandi Road) in Raipur. This project is expected to boost the jewelry industry and create new business opportunities.
The proposed Raipur Gems and Jewellery Park will be Central India's first and the country's fourth major international-standard jewellery hub. To be built at an estimated cost of approximately Rs 350 crore, the park aims to bring together retail, wholesale, design, stone cutting, and polishing under a single roof.
The committee also discussed the construction of a Transport Nagar in Bilaspur to address the growing traffic pressure caused by heavy vehicles. The proposed facility will feature a logistics hub, warehouses, parking zones, vehicle maintenance centers, and rest areas for drivers.
Another significant project involves establishing a state-of-the-art Convention Center in Nava Raipur. This facility is expected to host national and international conferences, exhibitions, and corporate events, thereby helping to position Chhattisgarh as a premier hub for business tourism.
Senior officials from the Departments of Finance, Commerce and Industry, and Law, as well as representatives from NITI Aayog and the Chhattisgarh State Industrial Development Corporation, were present at the meeting.
