Bhopal: Standing atop the summit of Mount Everest with the Indian Tricolor held high in her hands—this was a moment that international mountaineer Anjana Yadav had been dreaming of for nearly nine years. Sharing her journey with the media in Bhopal on Tuesday, she described this achievement as the culmination of years of hard work, determination, and perseverance.

Anjana reached the summit of the world's highest peak, Mount Everest (8,848.86 meters), at 5 AM on May 27. Recalling her expedition, she shared that she departed for Kathmandu on April 3 and began her ascent toward the Everest Base Camp on April 7.

She explained that mountaineering is not merely about physical strength; mental fortitude is equally essential. As climbers ascend, oxygen levels drop significantly, making every single step a formidable challenge. Adverse weather conditions, freezing temperatures, and treacherous terrain further put a mountaineer's endurance to the ultimate test.

Was forced to turn back from an altitude of about 7,000 meters

The most arduous moment of her journey occurred when, due to heavy snowfall, she was forced to turn back from an altitude of approximately 7,000 meters while attempting to advance from Camp II to Camp III. However, she refused to let this setback spell the end of her dream. After waiting for conditions to improve, she made another attempt and successfully reached the summit.

Stories of successful women inspired her

A native of Semri village in the Raisen district, Anjana revealed that her desire to achieve something extraordinary was inspired by the stories of successful women she had read about during her childhood. She initially played Kabaddi during her college days, which subsequently ignited a passion for adventure sports within her.

Dedicated her Everest expedition to Operation Sindoor

In 2018, she decided to dedicate herself entirely to mountaineering and embarked on a rigorous training regimen. Anjana dedicated her Everest expedition to "Operation Sindoor" and paid tribute to the bravery and sacrifices of the Indian Army. She stated that her success is not hers alone, but belongs also to all those who stood by her during difficult times.

What are Anjana's future plans

Sharing her future plans, Anjana expressed her desire to inspire children studying in government and rural schools. She plans to visit schools across the state to encourage students to dream big, work hard, and have faith in their own capabilities. According to her, there is no dearth of talent in the villages; many young people simply require the right opportunities and guidance.

Speaking at the event, Lions Club Mentor Hariom Jatia lauded Anjana's achievement, describing it as a moment of pride for Madhya Pradesh. He remarked that her unwavering determination to overcome personal challenges and achieve her goal serves as a source of inspiration for the younger generation.
