Heatwave Subsides Across India, Monsoon Set to Reach Kerala in 2-3 Days, Check IMD Updates & Predictions
Monsoon-2026 Weather: According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the Southwest Monsoon is expected to reach Kerala within the next two to three days. Although the monsoon typically arrives in the state around June 1st, its progress has been slightly delayed this year.
The good news is that the severe heat and heatwave conditions that have gripped several parts of the country over the past few weeks have now largely subsided. Due to rainfall and overcast skies, temperatures have dropped significantly in many states, providing much-needed relief to residents.
Conditions are favorable for the monsoon to advance further
The IMD stated that current weather conditions are favorable for the monsoon to advance further into the Arabian Sea, Lakshadweep, Kerala, and parts of Tamil Nadu. In the coming days, it is expected to extend into more regions of the Bay of Bengal.
Earlier, the department had predicted that the monsoon would reach Kerala by May 26. However, after an initial surge, its pace slowed down, pushing back its expected arrival to the first week of June.

Meanwhile, weather activity has intensified in several parts of the country. On Monday, reports of hailstorms were received from the Ajmer, Nagaur, and Chittorgarh districts of Rajasthan. Thundershowers continued across four districts of Madhya Pradesh.
Heavy rainfall occurred in Jhansi and Lalitpur in Uttar Pradesh, while authorities issued alerts for thunderstorms and rain across 63 districts of the state. Sasaram in Bihar also witnessed heavy rainfall during the afternoon hours.
Rain Alert for 27 States
The IMD has forecast light to heavy rainfall across 27 states, including Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, and Punjab. Several districts in Uttarakhand—including Nainital—also received rainfall, resulting in cooler weather and relief from the heat.
Now that the monsoon is approaching Kerala and rainfall activity is increasing across various regions, it is expected that pleasant weather conditions will prevail across the entire country in the coming days.
