PM Modi and US President Trump met during the G-7 summit in the French city of Evian. The two conversed for about five minutes and were seen seated together during the meeting.

This meeting took place after a gap of 16 months. The Prime Minister and the US President also sat together during the G-7 outreach session; their last meeting prior to this had been at the White House in February 2025.

Both leaders shook hands and held a brief conversation ahead of the G7 working session on ‘Forging New Partnerships and Rebuilding International Solidarity’ which is being attended by the G7 countries, partner nations, the World Bank, and the African Development Bank.

PM Modi and Trump are scheduled to hold a bilateral meeting on Wednesday and hold discussions on economic growth, supply chains, Artificial Intelligence (AI), investment partnerships and a range of global security challenges.

The White House said Saturday that the meeting will be held before both leaders join a working lunch attended by the G7 leaders, outreach partners and technology executives.

The two leaders may discuss a trade deal at 6:30 PM on June 17. According to the White House, discussions could cover issues related to tariffs, investment, and the strategic partnership between India and the US.

French President Emmanuel Macron welcomed Modi upon his arrival in Evian on Tuesday afternoon for the G-7 summit. The heads of state of the G-7 nations also posed for a group photo.

During the event, Modi was seen interacting with Trump, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, British PM Keir Starmer, Canadian PM Mark Carney, and Italian PM Giorgia Meloni.

This marks India's 13th appearance at the summit as a partner nation and the seventh time the Prime Minister is participating in this global forum.
