Prices of commercial, 5-kg FTL cylinders hiked; check new rates
The prices of commercial cylinders have increased starting Mondday, June 1. Indian Oil Corporation—India's largest state-run refining company—has hiked the price of the 19-kilogram commercial LPG cylinder by Rs 42.
In Delhi, a commercial cylinder is now available for Rs 3,113.50, while the price of the 5-kilogram LPG cylinder has risen to Rs 821.
The rise in the prices of commercial gas cylinders will increase the operating costs for restaurant owners. Consequently, they may raise the prices of tea, snacks, and thalis. Wedding catering services could also become more expensive.
Price of the 5-kg FTL cylinder also hiked
The price of the 5-kilogram Free Trade LPG (FTL) cylinder has also been increased by Rs 11, rising to Rs 821.50. Previously, its price was Rs 810.50. The FTL cylinder is also known as the 'Chhotu' cylinder, and anyone can purchase it without providing proof of address. It is primarily used by migrant workers, students, or small shopkeepers.
But the price of a 5-kg domestic cylinder remains stable at Rs 339. Similarly there has been no increase in the prices of domestic cylinders.
Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, stated on Friday that the government is building strategic reserves to bolster fuel security and is ensuring a continuous supply.
She also said that measures are being continuously taken to combat hoarding.
Export Duty on Petrol, Diesel, and ATF Reduced
The Central Government has reduced the export duty on petrol, diesel, and aviation fuel. The new rates have come into effect today, June 1st.
The duty on petrol exports has been fixed at Rs 1.5 per liter. The duty on diesel exports has been set at Rs 13.5 per liter. The duty on aviation fuel (ATF) exports has been fixed at Rs 9.5 per liter.
This is a type of tax levied by the government on goods sold outside the country. The reduction in this tax will result in higher profits for refinery companies. There will be no change in domestic petrol and diesel prices.
