SW monsoon-2026 covers all Northeastern states; severe storm lashes UP's Etawah; landslide in Navi Mumbai, check IMD predictions and alerts

Within six days of arriving in Kerala, the monsoon has covered all the Northeastern states. On Tuesday, it reached Mizoram, Meghalaya, Sikkim, and West Bengal. So far, the monsoon has set in across 16 states.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for five districts of Kerala including Kasaragod, Kannur, Wayanad, Kozhikode and Malappuram on June 10 2026) where isolated heavy rain is predicted.

The IMD on June 10 issued an orange alert in Alappuzha and Ernakulam districts of Kerala for three hours starting 10 a.m.

The IMD said conditions remain favourable for further advance of the monsoon into eastern, central and western India in the next four to five days.

IMD) has also issued a heavy rainfall alert for four Telangana districts -- Vikarabad, Mahabubnagar, Narayanpet and Jogulamba Gadwal -- on June 10. 

Pre-monsoon activity is being observed in all states except Gujarat. On Tuesday, ten districts in Bihar experienced rain accompanied by thunderstorms; in Begusarai, a pole collapsed onto an auto-rickshaw.

Etawah in Uttar Pradesh witnessed rain accompanied by a severe storm, with wind speeds reaching 100 kmph. During the storm, trees and poles fell at more than 100 locations.

In Navi Mumbai, Maharashtra, five cars were buried under debris following a landslide caused by heavy rain; a large section of a hill collapsed in the Pawane MIDC area.
