Bhopal: Monsoon Ragas cast a spell at Bharat Bhavan's Gayan Parv on Day 2; Aastha Goswami and Ruchira Kedar enthrall audience
Bhopal: The second evening of the three-day 'Gayan Parv' at Bharat Bhavan’s Antarang Hall unfolded as a memorable celebration of Indian classical music, featuring a brilliant duet performance by young vocalists Aastha Goswami and Ruchira Kedar. Their performance showcased both the richness of classical traditions and the freshness of contemporary interpretation, earning thunderous applause from the audience.
The program commenced with Raag Megh, featuring the Vilambit (slow-tempo) Bandish "Garje Ghata Ghan" set to Jhaptal. Through elaborate Aalaap, beautiful melodic nuances, and soulful improvisation, they exquisitely evoked the atmosphere of the monsoon.
This was followed by a Drut (fast-tempo) Bandish in Ektal, "Chhai Ghata Ghanghor," where spirited Taans, Bol-Aalaap, and intricate rhythmic play (Laykari) demonstrated their technical prowess.
Next, the artists performed "Kanha Re Nandanandan" in Raag Kedar, infusing the atmosphere with deep devotion. A lively Tarana, characterized by its brisk pace and complex rhythmic patterns, injected fresh energy into the evening.
The program concluded with the poignant composition "Nadiya Bairi Bhai" in Raag Desh, followed by the traditional Kajri "Kahanva Mano O Radha Rani," offering a unique confluence of classical and folk traditions celebrating the rainy season. This soulful performance left the audience spellbound.
The festival will conclude on Sunday with a performance by Dr. Rishi Mishra, followed by a grand finale featuring renowned vocalist Manjiri Asnare-Kelkar, promising yet another memorable evening of exquisite classical music.
