Congress preaches unity, but what are the ground realities in MP’s Vindhya?
The Congress party's 'Sangathan Srijan Abhiyan' (Organization Creation Campaign) resulted in the appointment of district and city presidents, as well as 'Mandalam' (zonal) presidents. During the training sessions, emphasis was placed on unity and discipline. Speeches from the dais created the impression that a 'new Congress' was emerging—one that would take to the field in a revamped avatar and, after years, finally uproot the BJP from its stronghold in the Vindhya region.
While various action plans were formulated during organizational meetings, the ground reality tells a different story; these plans have yet to be implemented on the ground. The party remains unable to rise above the politics of regional strongmen (chhatraps).
In Rewa, the organization is faltering, and rebellion is brewing everywhere. Due to a lack of coordination and synergy, leaders are singing their own tunes rather than acting in unison. The presidents responsible for the organization are failing to wield the whip of discipline; consequently, individuals are crossing the line and making all sorts of statements on social media and other platforms.
Rewa District President Er. Rajendra Sharma has been unable to foster coordination within the organization. Whenever a party worker voices a grievance or complaint, he retreats into silence. However, the President adopted a stern stance during an extended meeting on Saturday, issuing a strict warning that acts of indiscipline would not be tolerated. He further declared that office-bearers who fail to work or attend meetings should step down, making way for diligent and loyal workers. It remains to be seen how effectively the President follows through on these declarations.
