Glasgow: Gyaneshwari Yadav won the silver medal in the women's 53kg final by lifting a total of 199 kg, becoming the fourth Indian athlete to win a weightlifting medal in 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
She lifted 88 kg in the snatch and 111 kg in the clean and jerk, briefly setting both Games and Commonwealth records. Later, Nigeria's Didih Onome Omolola bettered this record by lifting 113 kg.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Gyaneshwari Yadav on winning the Silver Medal in Weightlifting at the Commonwealth Games Glasgow 2026.
