How 30,000 Palash seeds will transform Kalika Mata Hill in MP's Burhanpur into a sacred, flower-adorned site
Burhanpur: The serene hill housing the Kalika Mata Temple in Mohad village in Burhanpur is set to become even more divine and visually captivating. To achieve this, a massive environmental conservation drive was launched on Saturday, during which 30,000 Palash seeds were sown.
Led by Deputy Collector Rajesh Patidar, the initiative showcased a unique blend of environmental conservation and spiritual significance. Volunteers envisioned a future where the temple hill would be adorned with the brilliant saffron blossoms of the Palash trees.
These seeds were provided free of cost by the Sintec Eco Foundation, Indore. More than 170 volunteers—including administrative officials, teachers, students, environmentalists, and villagers—participated in the drive through voluntary labor (shramdaan). \
Deputy Collector Ajmer Singh Gaur, Tehsildar Jitendra Alava, CMO Dilip Chauhan, environmentalist Sanjay Rathore, Abhinav Vidyalaya Principal Mahendra Mahajan, and many others also joined the initiative.
Addressing the gathering, Rajesh Patidar remarked that while humans have long depended on nature, the time has come to give back by protecting the environment for future generations. He urged people not only to sow the seeds but also to nurture and care for them.
Known as the 'Flame of the Forest,' the Palash tree thrives on rocky terrain and requires very little water. When in bloom, its brilliant orange-saffron flowers will blanket the temple hill, further enhancing the spiritual aura and natural beauty of this sacred site. Beyond beautifying the landscape, these trees will help recharge groundwater and strengthen the local ecosystem, making the temple a symbol of both faith and environmental conservation.
