How Katangi in MP's Balaghat will achieve a green future with Climate Green Economic Zone project?
Balaghat: Katangi in Balaghat district is poised to take a major step towards sustainable development with the proposed Climate Green Economic Zone (CGEZ) project. The initiative gathered momentum after Climate Parliament India representative Nikhil Chauhan, under the guidance of MLA Gaurav Singh Pardhi, presented the project's roadmap to District Collector Mrinal Meena.
The proposal focuses on developing green energy-based industries, attracting investment, generating employment and strengthening the local economy. Following the presentation, the Collector convened a meeting of senior district officials and directed departments to coordinate closely for the project's implementation. A consultant appointed by Climate Parliament India was also introduced to facilitate the planning process.
Project envisions greater use of renewable energy
The project envisions greater use of renewable energy in government buildings, schools, healthcare institutions, mining areas and MSME units. It also seeks to encourage investment in solar power, agro-based industries, food processing, warehousing and other environmentally friendly sectors.
Collector Meena described the initiative as an opportunity to make Katangi a national example of green development, while MLA Gaurav Singh Pardhi said the project could transform the economic landscape of Katangi and Balaghat.
Besides creating employment and self-employment opportunities for local youth, the CGEZ initiative is expected to improve infrastructure, expand market access for businesses and provide farmers with better processing facilities and value for their produce.
