Madhya Pradesh: School Readiness Fair Boosts Early Education for Tiny Tots in Raisen
Thousands of pre-school children in Raisen district, Madhya Pradesh, recently participated in 'School Readiness Fair-2'. The objective of this fair was to prepare children for formal schooling through fun and play-based learning activities. Collector Arun Kumar Vishwakarma visited Anganwadi Centre No. 4 in Raisen city, where he interacted with the children, observed their educational activities, and assessed the facilities available at the centre.
The Collector stated that early childhood forms the foundation for a child's intellectual, emotional, and social development. He emphasized that activity-based learning fosters self-confidence and curiosity in children. He instructed Anganwadi workers and officials from the Women and Child Development Department to ensure quality early education, proper nutrition, and a safe environment for every child.
Under this campaign, children aged 5–6 years were assessed across five developmental domains: language, numeracy (counting and tables), cognitive ability, physical development, and socio-emotional skills.
Parents were provided with individual progress report cards highlighting the significant improvements observed following the month-long 'Mother Participation Programme'. Parents were also encouraged to support their children's education by ensuring regular attendance at the Anganwadi centres.
