Shahdol: This marks a significant milestone for the city's theatre community. Three promising young artists—Renu Vishwakarma, Rajkumar Jatav, and Manshu Singh—have been selected for the 2026–28 academic session at the prestigious Madhya Pradesh Drama Academy in Bhopal. This is the first time in the district's theatre history that three artists have simultaneously been chosen for the Academy's highly competitive two-year post-graduate MPA (Drama and Theatre) program.

The journey to this success was far from easy. Approximately 90 theatre aspirants from across the country and abroad participated in interviews conducted by renowned theatre experts. From this group, 60 candidates were shortlisted for the final selection workshop, where the three artists from Shahdol impressed the jury with their performances, ultimately securing three of the 26 coveted seats.

This achievement reflects years of hard work, disciplined training, and an unwavering passion for the performing arts. It is also a pivotal moment for the cultural identity of Shahdol and the entire division, highlighting the region's growing prominence on the state's theatre map.

This success follows closely on the heels of an 11-day National Theatre Festival organized by the 'Sampoorna Natya evam Lok Kala Samiti' in Shahdol from June 8 to June 18, 2026. The festival brought together renowned directors, theatre groups, and folk artists from across the country, creating an inspiring platform and further strengthening the district's vibrant theatre tradition.
