Monsoon safety drive: Officials inspect Johilla Waterfall in MP's Umaria, issue flood awareness directives
Umaria: To enhance public safety during the monsoon season, a joint administrative team—acting on the instructions of Collector Rakhi Sahay—inspected several vulnerable locations, including Johila Waterfall, Sarsi Island, and Itma Boat Club. The inspection was conducted by the Manpur SDM, the CEO of Janpad Panchayat Manpur, and the Home Guard Platoon Commander to assess flood-prone areas and mitigate the risk of water-related accidents.
During the inspection, officials identified locations where heavy rainfall and rising water levels could pose a threat to local residents and tourists. They instructed Gram Panchayat secretaries and village employment assistants to make regular public announcements in nearby villages and raise awareness about flood risks and disaster safety measures. Additionally, directives were issued to install warning and caution signboards near waterfalls, rivers, ponds, and other accident-prone water bodies.
The district administration has appealed to the public to avoid visiting waterlogged areas, overflowing rivers, and waterfalls during the rainy season. Citizens are urged to adhere to official safety advisories to ensure their safety and prevent avoidable accidents.
