CM Mohan Yadav to Inaugurate Godrej’s Fourth Manufacturing Unit in Malanpur Bhind; Investment of Rs 450 Crore to Create over 2,250 Jobs
Madhya Pradesh CM Dr. Mohan Yadav will inaugurate Godrej Consumer Products Limited’s expanded fourth manufacturing unit at Malanpur industrial area in Bhind district on August 26. More than Rs 450 crore has been invested in expansion of the unit.
Besides increasing production capacity in Malanpur, it will create more than 2,250 new employment opportunities. During the programme, CM Dr. Yadav will also distribute appointment certificates for PWD recruitments. Senior officials of Godrej Group will be present on the occasion.
As part of expansion, a continuous saponification plant with a capacity of 10 metric tonnes per hour and an automated packaging system with capacity of 217 bundles per minute are being installed. Along with this, annual production capacity of 42 crore hair colour sachets, 14 crore mosquito repellent products and 10 crore air freshener sachets will be developed. Hair cream production capacity will be 7,300 metric tonnes annually.
This will provide employment opportunities to youth of Bhind and surrounding areas and promote industrial activities at local level. After expansion, the state is expected to receive additional Central Goods and Services Tax and State Goods and Services Tax revenue of around Rs 185 crore annually.
Along with production expansion, Godrej is also giving special attention to environmental protection. According to Dow Jones Sustainability Index, Godrej Consumer Products is among second-most sustainable FMCG companies in world. A zero liquid discharge system and a 204-kilowatt rooftop solar power plant will be installed at Malanpur plant.
Godrej Consumer Products Limited has been operating in Malanpur since 1991. Company’s plant, located in the industrial area, is spread over 65 acres. Cumulative investment of Rs 850 crore has been made here so far. Over more than three decades, this plant has developed into an important centre of Godrej’s manufacturing network. Various products, including soaps, hair colour and household insecticides, are manufactured here.
The expansion of new fourth manufacturing unit will bring a significant increase in production capacity of Malanpur plant. At present, it has annual production capacity of 1.5 lakh metric tonnes of soap noodles and 70,000 metric tonnes of finished toilet soap. After expansion, soap noodles production capacity will increase to 2 lakh metric tonnes and finished soap production capacity to 1.2 lakh metric tonnes annually. Thus, total production capacity will reach 3.2 lakh metric tonnes annually.
With this expansion, Malanpur plant will move towards becoming Asia’s largest integrated soap manufacturing unit.
