Colorful showcase of self-reliance at Rakhi Fair in MP's Gwalior; Didis find a new platform
Gwalior: The Rakhi fair, organized at the Divisional Rural Haat Bazaar in Gwalior, was inaugurated by Zila Panchayat President Durgesh Kunwar Singh Jatav and Zila Panchayat Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sojan Singh Rawat. Zila Panchayat Vice-President Priyanka Singh was also present on the occasion. The fair aims to provide better market access for products crafted by the Didis associated with self-help groups and to further strengthen their livelihoods.
A wide range of useful products is available for sale at the fair, including colorful and attractive Rakhis, ladies' purses, ready-made garments, spices, honey, mustard and coconut oils, organic manure, vermicompost, pickles, savory snacks, beaded necklaces, and brooms.
Appreciating the skills and self-reliance of the women from these groups, Zila Panchayat President Jatav remarked that such fairs provide them with a new identity and encouragement. Meanwhile, CEO Rawat said that products from self-help groups are garnering appreciation not only at the district level but also at the state level.
