CM Mohan Yadav to Launch ‘ODOP Mart Madhya Pradesh’ in Bhopal; Mrignayani Goes Digital: New Avenues to Open for Local Products
Bhopal. The state government is taking a significant step towards providing a wider market for products created by local weavers, craftspeople, artisans, and rural entrepreneurs in Madhya Pradesh. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav will launch ‘ODOP Mart Madhya Pradesh’ and the web portal of the Mrignayani (https://odopmartmp.com) on Monday, August 10, 2026.
The event will be held at the Kushabhau Thakre International Convention Centre (Minto Hall). Weavers and craftspeople from the state will also be felicitated on this occasion. Developed under the ‘One District-One Product’ (ODOP) scheme, the portal aims to provide a unified digital platform for the unique products of every district in the state.
A key feature of this initiative is that Mrignayani is the country's first digital platform owned by a public sector undertaking that focuses specifically on the ‘One District-One Product’ concept. Through this platform, efforts will be made to take local identities, traditional arts, handicrafts, handlooms, and other unique products to larger markets within the state and across the country. This will not only give local products a new identity but also provide artisans with the opportunity to reach new customers.
Market Reach to Expand Nationally
‘ODOP Mart MP’ has now integrated with the Open Digital Commerce Network. This will enable products from weavers and craftspeople registered on the portal to reach various purchasing platforms across the country. This development increases the potential for securing new customers and markets at the national level for the state's local products.
Notably, more than 350 weavers, craftspeople, and sellers have already registered on the portal, and over two thousand products have been made available for sale. The goal for the future is to connect an increasing number of weavers, artisans, self-help groups, and rural entrepreneurs from all districts of the state to this platform. This initiative is considered a significant step towards integrating Madhya Pradesh's rich traditions of art, culture, handlooms, and handicrafts with the digital economy. By making unique products from all the state's districts available on a single platform, the market reach of local products will expand, thereby strengthening the rural economy.
No Role for Intermediaries
The portal facilitates the registration of weavers, artisans, and local producers, enabling them to supply their products directly to customers. A key feature is that a commission of only one percent will be charged on sales. This eliminates the burden of high commissions charged by intermediaries and increases the producer's share of the selling price. Consequently, this is expected to boost the income of weavers and artisans and accelerate their economic empowerment.
