Madhya Pradesh: Orchha Being Developed as Wonderful Tourism Centre: CM Mohan Yadav
MP Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has said that Orchha is being developed as a wonderful tourism centre. Ram Raja Temple of Orchha is a historical and cultural asset of our glorious past. Temples and palaces here are direct examples of rich architecture of that period, which keeps us connected with our ancient heritage and culture.
Dr. Yadav on Monday reviewed ongoing construction works at Shri Ram Raja Lok, a major historical and religious centre located in Orchha. After taking information about progress of construction works, CM Dr. Yadav directed officials concerned to complete works with quality within stipulated time limit. He expressed these views while interacting with media after inspection.
CM Mohan Yadav inspected various establishments in under-construction Ram Raja Lok complex, interacted with establishment operators and heard their problems and suggestions. He directed officials concerned to take necessary action to resolve problems brought to their notice.
Along with this, Chief Minister Dr. Yadav inspected ongoing construction and renovation works at Jujhar Singh Mahal. He also visited Jahangir Mahal and observed its historical and rich architectural art.
During inspection, the architect gave Chief Minister Dr. Yadav detailed information about conservation of ancient and historical ‘Sawan-Bhado’ pillars located in temple complex and their architectural significance. It was informed that while shaping structure and development works of Ram Raja Lok, special attention is being paid to ancient heritage of temple complex, particularly original form and historical significance of ‘Sawan-Bhado’ pillars.
These ancient pillars, symbols of distinctive architecture of Bundelkhand, reflect advanced technology of their time through their structure and construction style. Special care is being taken to ensure that these ancient structures are not damaged during new construction works. Surrounding areas are being organised, beautified and made convenient for devotees.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said Orchha was known as capital of Bundelkhand under our glorious Bundela kings. Ancient palaces and buildings here are our rich heritage, and the government is working to bring them to life. Buildings are being renovated using materials similar to those used in construction during that period.
CM said the government’s objective is to ensure that these buildings, symbols of our glorious past, appear in the same form in which they existed years ago. Skilled craftsmen are working under the leadership and guidance of our officials for this purpose.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that after construction of Shri Mahakal Mahalok, there has been a significant increase in number of devotees visiting Ujjain and a major change has taken place in Ujjain’s economy. On similar lines, major pilgrimage centres of Madhya Pradesh such as Orchha, Chitrakoot, Datia, Nalkheda and Pashupatinath Mandsaur are also being developed comprehensively. This will promote religious tourism and create new employment opportunities at local level.
Lord Shri Ram spent a long period of his 14-year exile in Chitrakoot. Places associated with Lord Shri Krishna, including Sandipani Ashram in Ujjain, where he received his education, and all places where Lord Shri Krishna performed his Leelas, will be developed as pilgrimage centres.
