MoU signed: This is how about 30 higher education institutions in Madhya Pradesh will benefit from IIT BHU’s academic expertise
Bhopal/Varanasi: The Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University) [IIT (BHU)] and the Madhya Pradesh Department of Higher Education signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Tuesday to strengthen collaboration in the fields of science, engineering, technology, and research. The agreement was signed at the RCVP Noronha Academy of Administration and Management in Bhopal in the presence of Governor Mangubhai Patel and Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav.
The MoU was signed by Prof. Rajesh Kumar, Dean (Research and Development), on behalf of IIT (BHU), and Prabal Sipahi, Commissioner of Higher Education, on behalf of the Madhya Pradesh government.
Collaboration aims to promote technical education and research
Under this agreement, approximately 30 higher education institutions in Madhya Pradesh (including universities and prominent technical institutes) will benefit from IIT (BHU)’s academic expertise, research facilities, and research ecosystem. Aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, this collaboration aims to promote technical education, research, entrepreneurship, skill development, and industry-academia partnerships.
Joint certificate courses will be organized
The two entities will jointly organize certificate courses, faculty development programs, workshops, training camps, and specialized courses in emerging technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science, Robotics, Internet of Things (IoT), Cyber Security, Semiconductor Technology, Industry 4.0, Quantum Technology, Drone Technology, Smart Cities, and High-Performance Computing. Students and faculty members will also receive practical laboratory training.
This partnership will further foster development, innovation, and entrepreneurship through IIT (BHU)’s Centre for Innovation, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (CIIE), providing facilities such as mentorship, incubation support, patent assistance, technology transfer, and the operationalization of research. Joint research will also be conducted in the fields of green energy, hydrogen technology, battery technology, energy storage, electric mobility, smart pixels, advanced engines, nanotechnology, and climate-friendly engineering.
A significant step towards strengthening higher education: IIT BHU Director
Prof. Amit Patra, Director of IIT (BHU), described this agreement as a significant step towards strengthening and promoting higher education. He stated that this collaboration would create new opportunities for the organizations and faculty while contributing to the vision of a 'Viksit Bharat' (Developed India). A joint coordination committee, comprising representatives from both entities, will oversee the implementation, monitoring, and review of activities. This agreement will remain in effect for an initial period of five years.
