Raisen gaining global recognition for the flavor of its Basmati rice and wheat: CM Mohan Yadav; Basmati exports touched Rs 1,800 crore last year
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has stated that the hard work of Raisen's farmers is making waves in the global market. Today, there is a demand for the region's Basmati rice in 47 countries worldwide. Last year, Basmati exports amounted to approximately Rs 1,800 crore. The world is now recognizing Raisen not only for Sanchi, Bhimbetka, and Bhojpur but also for the distinctive taste of its Basmati rice and wheat.
Exported to 47 countries
Raisen's basmati rice is exported to 47 countries with massive annual export revenues. It is designated under the One District One Product (ODOP) scheme due to ideal soil and climate.
Popular variants include 1121 Steam and Sella Basmati, known for long grains and rich aroma. Mills and traders operate heavily in nearby industrial and regional hubs like Mandideep and Bhopal.
Similarly, along with soybean and pulses, wheat is a foundational crop defining the agrarian economy of Raisen.
Farmers in Raisen are moving beyond traditional crops
CM saids it is also a matter of satisfaction that farmers in Raisen are moving beyond traditional crops and cultivating fruits and vegetables on a large scale. CM was virtually addressing the 'Balram Krishi Mahotsav' (Balram Agricultural Festival) held in Raisen from the 'Samatva Bhavan' at the CM's residence. Former Minister Surendra Patwa and Additional Chief Secretary Neeraj Mandloi were also present.

Chief Minister Dr. Yadav stated that Raisen is set to benefit from the Ken-Betwa National River Interlinking Project in the near future, which will lead to an unprecedented increase in irrigation capacity. To us, farmers' fields are like sacred shrines, and every single grain they produce is akin to \Prasad. The government stands with farmers at every stage, from the seed to the market.
CM said farmers will continue to receive loans at zero percent interest and will be granted a full year to repay them. By rectifying past irregularities in cooperative accounts, thousands of farmers are now being enabled to access loans and government schemes. Procurement of Moong (green gram) and Urad (black gram) is currently underway. A record 104 lakh metric tonnes of wheat has been procured from farmers at the Minimum Support Price (MSP) plus a bonus.
