CM Dr. Mohan Yadav inaugurated Godrej Consumer Products Private Limited’s fourth new integrated industrial (manufacturing) unit at the Malanpur Industrial Area in Bhind district on Wednesday.
Established with an additional investment of around Rs 450 crore by the Godrej Group, the unit is a significant symbol of growing industrial confidence in Madhya Pradesh and the changing investment landscape of the Gwalior-Chambal region. The new integrated manufacturing unit will provide direct employment to more than 600 people.
The CM said Malanpur is now emerging as a catalyst for industrial development in the Gwalior-Chambal region. Industries ranging from toys to tyres are developing here.
With today’s inauguration, Malanpur has earned the distinction of being home to Asia’s largest integrated soap manufacturing factory. Women's participation in the plant’s workforce is steadily increasing. The new unit will play a significant role in further strengthening this partnership towards a prosperous, self-reliant and developed Madhya Pradesh.
Third Manufacturing Unit Inaugurated in Gwalior-Chambal in Two Months
CM Mohan Yadav said that the inauguration of the new unit at Malanpur marks the third industrial unit to be inaugurated in the Gwalior-Chambal region in about two months. Earlier, a Rs 1,500-crore cement plant was inaugurated in Guna, followed by a defence manufacturing plant in Shivpuri. Today, Godrej Consumer Products’ new unit has been inaugurated in Malanpur.
The Chief Minister said Asia’s largest soap factory is now located in Malanpur, where up to 4,000 soap bars can be produced every minute. He said the Godrej Group has established a distinct reputation globally through its commitment and efforts.
Products manufactured here will be supplied across the country
Godrej Consumer Products Limited Managing Director and CEO Asif Malvani said the plant has been built with advanced automation and digitisation. He appreciated the state government’s progressive and forward-looking approach. Malvani thanked CM Yadav for providing investors with a favourable environment and ease of doing business. He described the day as historic for Malanpur.
The Godrej MD said that just as Madhya Pradesh is known as the heart of India, Malanpur is the heart of Godrej’s manufacturing operations. Godrej Consumer products manufactured here will be supplied across the country. He said number of employees currently working at the Malanpur plant is 2,200, which will increase to 2,800 following the expansion. Malvani said the company will further strengthen consumer trust through the dedication of its employees.

The company established its Malanpur unit 35 years ago and now operates manufacturing facilities spread across around 70 acres, with a total investment of Rs 850 crore so far. Godrej’s total soap manufacturing capacity is 2 lakh tonnes. With the expansion through the new unit, the company will become the largest soap manufacturer in Asia.
