Bollywood star Ajay Devgn is back in the spotlight, though not for an upcoming film. Instead, a legal and civic dispute has arisen regarding his lavish bungalow in Mumbai's posh Juhu area, as the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has issued a notice to halt ongoing construction work at the property.
According to reports, the dispute centers on the proposed commercial use of the bungalow. The property, spanning approximately 7,800 square feet within the Kapole Cooperative Housing Society, was reportedly leased out to operate a premium salon and spa. Since the society is a residential complex, residents raised objections, arguing that such commercial activities should not take place without the necessary approvals.
The matter escalated when the housing society reportedly requested documents and approval papers related to the property's commercial use from the Devgn family. Society members claim that the required documents were either not submitted on time or failed to address their concerns. Consequently, they lodged a formal complaint with the BMC's K-West Ward.
Following the complaint, BMC officials inspected the site and issued a stop-work notice. They stated that no permission had been obtained from the municipal corporation for commercial operations at the bungalow. The civic body directed that construction work be halted until the necessary approvals and documents are produced.

However, representatives for Ajay Devgn have denied any wrongdoing. Ruchi Kanojia, Chief Legal and Compliance Officer for the Devgn Group, stated that all necessary approvals have already been obtained from the relevant authorities.
On the other hand, the housing society maintains that the 'No Objection Certificate' (NOC) issued for leasing the property does not automatically grant permission for commercial use. Ajay Devgn has now sought four weeks to submit an official response to the BMC. The next stage of the matter will depend on the legal documents presented by his team and whether the officials deem them valid. Until then, this dispute will remain in the public and media eye.
