There is another reason for Madhya Pradesh to celebrate at the 2026 Asian Games, as shooters Neeru Dhanda and Manisha Keer have made their mark on the international stage.

Representing the Madhya Pradesh State Shooting Academy, Neeru Dhanda delivered a historic performance in the women's individual trap event in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan. She won the gold medal by hitting 28 out of 30 targets, setting a new Asian record and becoming the first Indian woman to win gold in the women's individual trap event at the Asian Games-2026.

Her performance in the team event made the achievement even more special. Neeru, alongside Manisha Keer and Ashima Ahlawat, helped India secure the silver medal in the women's trap team competition. The Indian trio scored a total of 328 points, with Neeru contributing 118, Manisha 104, and Ashima 106 points.

Manisha’s contribution is equally significant for Madhya Pradesh. An alumna of the Madhya Pradesh shooting academy, Manisha has previously represented India successfully at the Asian Games and has now added another team silver medal to her international record.

The achievements of these two shooters highlight the growing presence of athletes from Madhya Pradesh in major international competitions. Their success also draws attention to the Bhopal-based Madhya Pradesh State Shooting Academy, which provides its athletes with specialized shooting ranges, training, accommodation, and other facilities.

Neeru’s stellar 2026 season had already included a gold medal at the ISSF Shotgun World Cup in Lonato, Italy. Her gold medal at the Asian Games marks yet another major milestone.

Neeru's next event: Mixed Team competition on September 30

Neeru Dhanda's impressive journey at the Asian Games continues. On September 30, 2026, the Indian pair of Neeru Dhanda and Kynan Chenai will compete in the Trap Mixed Team event. The qualification round is scheduled for the morning, while the final is set for 2:30 PM.

Having already won a historic gold medal in the individual women's trap event and a silver medal in the team event, Neeru now has the opportunity to secure another medal for India in the mixed team competition. Sports enthusiasts across the state will be keeping a close watch on the next outing of Neeru Dhanda, who represents the Madhya Pradesh State Shooting Academy.

For sports enthusiasts in Madhya Pradesh, the medals won by Neeru and Manisha are not merely figures on a medal tally—they are proud symbols of the talent emerging from the state.
