CM Mohan sets example by giving up part of ancestral home; personally begins demolition for road widening
Ujjain: Amidst preparations for Simhastha 2028, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav set an example for the city's residents on Sunday. He personally began demolishing a portion of his ancestral home in Abdalpura to facilitate road widening.
Yadav arrived in the area around 10 AM and performed a puja to formally launch the road-widening work. He then picked up a pickaxe and removed a section of his ancestral home (House No. 180). The road-widening project also affects the property of his sister, Kalavati Yadav, who is the Chairperson of the Ujjain Municipal Corporation.
People from all communities joined the effort
Abdalpura is one of Ujjain's older neighborhoods, where Hindu, Muslim, and Bohra families reside along the roadside. Residents stated that they are voluntarily removing parts of their homes to cooperate with the road-widening initiative.
Local resident Kadar Bhai remarked that the project would ease traffic movement on a road where vehicles previously struggled to pass. Pawan Panchal, who lives near the Chief Minister's ancestral home, said that wider roads would make daily commuting easier and boost local business.
Narendra Jain, who runs a milk shop, noted that the removal of a portion of the CM's family property sent a message that residents are being treated equally in the city of Mahakal.
CM Mohan Yadav stated that the residents' cooperation—including the voluntary removal of parts of their homes and places of worship—demonstrates their participation in preparing Ujjain for Simhastha. He thanked the residents for their support in the city's development and beautification efforts.
The Chief Minister also participated in a marathon in Ujjain on Sunday, performed yoga with the participants, and urged people to exercise regularly and adopt a healthy, active lifestyle. He also appealed to citizens to protect the environment and remember their ancestors during Pitru Paksha.
