Ujjain Darshan bus service links major temples and tourist spots; CM Mohan Yadav also takes a ride
Ujjain: Travelling between the city's major temples and tourist attractions will now be easier for pilgrims visiting Ujjain. On Sunday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav launched the PM e-Bus Service and the 'Ujjain Darshan' service at the Annakshetra parking complex near Mahakal Lok.
The Ujjain Darshan bus will transport passengers to multiple significant religious sites along a single route, eliminating the need to hire separate vehicles for each location. This service will benefit both tourists exploring the city and local residents.
Yadav flagged off the buses from Shakti Path and traveled to Rajaram Resort on one of them. He stated that the objective of these new services is to provide safe, convenient, and modern public transport in Ujjain.
₹200 ticket covers the entire 'Darshan' route
The 27.01-kilometer-long Ujjain Darshan route begins at Meghdoot Van parking and returns to the starting point after covering Mahakal Lok, Harsiddhi Temple, the Kshipra River, Bhartrihari Caves, Garh Kalika, Kaal Bhairav, Siddhavat, Angarkeshwar, Mangalnath, Sandipani Ashram, Chintaman Ganesh, and other key sites.
The ticket costs ₹200 and can be paid digitally via UPI. Passengers can disembark at designated stops to visit the sites and board the next available Darshan bus using the same valid ticket.
Modern facilities will be available
The electric buses will be equipped with CCTV, GPS tracking, digital ticketing, and real-time monitoring facilities. Digital assistants will also provide passengers with information about the route and major attractions.
There will also be 12 other bus routes in the city connecting residential, commercial, educational, and religious areas. This expanded network is expected to facilitate daily commuting for residents and provide better transport options for tourists ahead of Simhastha 2028.
