Indore Metro Extension Gives New Impetus to City’s Development and Public Transport: CM Mohan Yadav,
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said the expansion of the metro train service in Indore is not merely an extension of transport facilities but the beginning of a new chapter in the city’s development. With the launch of the new phase on Saturday, further phases will be completed in the coming years. The metro network will gradually be extended to connect Indore with Ujjain, Pithampur and other surrounding areas.
CM Dr. Mohan Yadav addressed the inauguration ceremony of the new phase of the Indore Metro today. He said that following the positive response to the first phase, the metro is now being extended to the inner areas of the city. This expansion will continue, and in the coming years, the metro will transform the transport system of Indore and the entire Malwa region.
Dr. Yadav inaugurated the metro corridor from Super Corridor-3 to Malviya Nagar, developed by Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Limited at a cost of ₹2,850 crore. Union Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs Manohar Lal was present as the special guest.
₹18,500-Crore Indore-Manmad Rail Project to Create a New Chapter of Development
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that along with the metro project, the approval of ₹18,500 crore for the new Indore-Manmad railway line is another major achievement for the region. The project will mark a new chapter in the development of Indore, Malwa and Madhya Pradesh as a whole.
Ujjain-Indore-Mumbai Connectivity to Get a Major Boost
Dr. Mohan Yadav said that better rail connectivity will be developed from Guna to Ujjain, Ujjain to Indore and Indore to Manmad in the coming years. At the same time, a commitment has been made to extend the metro to Ujjain. The metro will play an important role in integrating the wider metropolitan region comprising Ujjain, Indore and surrounding areas. He said Indore, the city of Maa Devi Ahilya, has a distinctive identity in both development and heritage.
17-Km Corridor with 16 Stations
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said that the metro journey is now being extended from Gandhinagar to Malviya Square. The corridor is 17 km long and has 16 stations. The project will modernise and strengthen Indore’s transport system while giving fresh momentum to the city’s development. Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said, expressing his gratitude to the Union Minister, all concerned officials and those associated with the metro project, that the series of development projects being delivered to Indore will continue in the same spirit.
