For what special achievements six teachers from Madhya Pradesh have been honored by President Droupadi Murmu on Teachers’ Day 2026
President Smt. Droupadi Murmu felicitated outstanding teachers from across the country at a ceremony organised under the National Teachers’ Award 2026 on Teachers’ Day. Six teachers and educators from Madhya Pradesh were honoured for their significant contributions in education, skill development, innovation and research.
The awardees from Madhya Pradesh include Dr. Archana Shukla, Shri Shailendra Pratap Singh, Sushri Sangeeta Yadav, Prof. Saurav Datta, Smt. Reena Gupta and Smt. Jyotibala Rathore.
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav extended his heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to all the awardees. He said that being honoured at the national level by President Smt. Droupadi Murmu is a matter of pride and happiness for Madhya Pradesh.
Chief Minister Dr. Yadav said a teacher is not merely an educator but a builder of society and a shaper of the nation’s future. Through their innovations, dedication and outstanding work, these teachers from Madhya Pradesh have established a distinct identity in the field of education. He said their achievements will inspire teachers and students across the state.
Dr. Archana Shukla — Promoting Project-Based Learning and Environmental Conservation
Dr. Archana Shukla is a Science and Biology teacher who has made significant contributions over the past 15 years to project-based learning, environmental conservation and student mentoring. In line with the National Education Policy 2020, she has undertaken several innovative and low-cost projects with students. Her notable initiatives include the installation of more than 1,000 sparrow houses, QR-code-based digital mapping of trees on the school campus, and the innovative ‘Plant Emotion’ project.
Shailendra Pratap Singh — Transforming Schools through Community Participation
Shri Shailendra Pratap Singh is an English teacher and acting headmaster. He has brought significant transformation to schools with limited resources through community participation.
As a result of his efforts, student enrolment increased from 69 to 202, while attendance rose from 44 per cent to 96 per cent. He has also played an important role in preventing child marriage, bringing school dropouts back into education and ensuring educational opportunities for students with disabilities.
Sushri Sangeeta Yadav — Making Mathematics Engaging through Innovation
Sushri Sangeeta Yadav, a head teacher, is known for innovative mathematics teaching and teacher empowerment. Through initiatives such as Ganitotsav, Quest for Mathematics, Mathemind and Bagless Mathematics Day, she has promoted mathematics as an enjoyable and experiential subject. She is also integrating technology-based teaching and the use of artificial intelligence into education.
Prof. Saurav Datta — Promoting Research-Oriented Thinking among Students
Prof. Saurav Datta is a plant biologist at IISER Bhopal. Through teaching and research, he is fostering original and research-oriented thinking among students.
He has been honoured twice with the IISER Bhopal Distinguished Teacher Award. His research on developing plants adapted to climate change is particularly noteworthy.
Smt. Reena Gupta — Empowering Persons with Disabilities through Digital Skills
Smt. Reena Gupta is a Training Officer in the Computer Operator and Programming Assistant trade for trainees with hearing and visual disabilities at Government Divisional ITI, Ujjain. For the past 16 years, she has been providing computer and digital skills training to trainees with disabilities, enabling them to pursue employment and self-employment. Her contribution towards empowering women and disadvantaged trainees with disabilities and helping them become self-reliant is particularly commendable.
Smt. Jyotibala Rathore — Creating Employment Opportunities for Trainees
Smt. Jyotibala Rathore is a Training Officer at the National Skill Training Institute (Women), Indore. She has six years of experience in the industrial sector and 19 years of teaching experience.
Under her guidance, trainees have achieved notable success in national and state-level competitions. As a placement officer, she has also played an important role in providing employment opportunities to a large number of trainees.
The national recognition of six teachers from Madhya Pradesh by President Smt. Droupadi Murmu on Teachers’ Day is a matter of immense pride for the entire state.
