Kuno comes alive again; four tiny cubs join female cheetah KGP-12 family: CM Dr. Yadav
Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has stated that life finds its own path, and this very nature of life makes it even more exciting. There was a time when Madhya Pradesh had only a handful of cheetahs; today, their numbers have risen to 56.
Expressing great joy, CM Dr. Yadav noted that the historic cheetah reintroduction journey—launched at Kuno National Park on September 17, 2022, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi—has now reached a new milestone. He remarked that the four cubs recently born at Kuno stand as beautiful symbols of hope, resilience, and success in our cheetah conservation journey. On Friday (September 18)—the day following the completion of four years of the reintroduction program—KGP12, a female cheetah born in India, gave birth to four cubs at Kuno.
CM Dr. Mohan Yadav described this as a historic and joyous moment for Project Cheetah. He stated that this achievement is not only a significant step towards increasing the cheetah population in the country but also demonstrates that Kuno's natural environment is becoming conducive to cheetah breeding and conservation. CM Dr. Yadav extended his congratulations and best wishes to all officials and staff associated with Project Cheetah.

From reintroduction to breeding
Project Cheetah began in India on 17 September 2022 with the arrival of 8 cheetahs from Namibia.
Subsequently, cheetahs were also brought to India from South Africa and Botswana.
Breeding took place within India. The birth of four cubs to a female cheetah born in India marks a new milestone in this journey.
