Mataji Tekri in MP's Dewas gearing up for grand Navratri celebrations; enhanced safety, vibrant beautification, new prasad counters, improved facilities promise a seamless experience for devotee
Dewas: With just a month left for Navratri, devotees visiting Mataji Tekri in Dewas will now enjoy a safer, more attractive, and spiritually enriching experience. District Collector Rituraj Singh has directed officials to expedite all ongoing development work and complete all arrangements before the festival begins.
This year's celebrations will include several special touches, such as new tin sheds, improved circumambulation (parikrama) paths, better access roads, and extensive decoration of the temple complex. To further enhance the festive atmosphere, the temple will be painted red instead of the traditional white.
Additionally, decorative lighting, a redesigned 'Shankh Dwar', and permanent lighting throughout the Tekri will give the temple a grand new look.
Special attention has also been paid to the convenience of devotees. To ensure smooth distribution of Prasad, dedicated counters for Laddu will be set up on the staircase, ropeway, and slideway. An additional food Prasad counter will also be located near the hall being constructed on the slideway, facilitating movement during peak hours.
Security measures are also being significantly strengthened. Non-slip strips are being installed on the slopes, permanent lighting is being installed, unnecessary poles and wires are being removed, and long-range walkie-talkies are being provided for better communication between security personnel.
Officials have also been instructed to complete all construction work within a month so that Mataji Tekri is fully prepared to welcome thousands of devotees during the grand Navratri festival.
Mata Ji Tekri, situated atop a 300-foot-high hill in the city of Dewas, is a renowned religious and spiritual site. The two principal sacred temples of Maa Tulja Bhavani and Maa Chamunda Devi are enshrined together on this very hill.
They are also known as Badi Mata (Tulja Bhavani) and Chhoti Mata (Chamunda Mata). The tekri stands at an elevation of approximately 300 feet above sea level, and one must climb about 300 steps to reach the top. In addition to the stairway, a ropeway facility is available for the convenience of pilgrims. This site is located approximately 35 kilometers from Indore and about 33 kilometers from Ujjain.
