Mathura: Lakhs of Devotees Expected in Barsana as Preparations for Radha Ashtami 2026 Enter Final Stages
Barsana (Mathura): The holy town of Barsana is gearing up to welcome lakhs of devotees for the grand celebration of Radha Ashtami 2026—the birth anniversary of Radha Rani. Anticipating the arrival of thousands of pilgrims from across the country, the district administration and police have intensified preparations to ensure a safe, smooth, and comfortable experience for everyone. This year Radha Ashtami will be celebrated on Saturday, September 19.
Preparations are nearing completion across the town, extending from the Radha Rani Temple to the streets of Barsana. Special attention is being paid to arrangements such as barricading, drinking water facilities, sanitation, lighting, parking, and traffic management to ensure devotees can offer prayers without any hassle.
Administration Reviews Arrangements
Senior administrative and police officials are regularly visiting the fairgrounds to inspect the preparations. A special route plan has been devised to manage the heavy influx of devotees at the Radha Rani Temple and to minimize congestion during darshan (viewing of the deity).
Additional police forces will be deployed throughout the fair area, and entry and exit routes have been streamlined to facilitate better crowd movement. Security has been tightened at sensitive locations, and emergency response teams will remain on alert throughout the festivities.
Emphasis on a Safe and Peaceful Celebration
Every year, devotees from various states visit Barsana with great devotion to celebrate Radha Ashtami. Keeping the expected crowds in mind, the administration has made comprehensive arrangements to ensure that visitors can perform their rituals without any inconvenience.
Mathura District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh stated that large-scale preparations are underway to make the festival grand, well-organized, and safe. The administration's priority is to ensure that devotees have a seamless darshan experience and that the celebrations conclude in an atmosphere of peace, devotion, and enthusiasm.
