Mukhyamantri Sugam Parivahan Seva: Advanced Technology-Trained Bus Drivers to Take Wheel; GPS—Panic Buttons to Enhance Passenger Safety
Madhya Pradesh CM Dr. Mohan Yadav and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari will inaugurate public passenger bus services under CM Sugam Parivahan Seva at a state-level programme at BHEL Dussehra Maidan, Bhopal, on September 25.
The Transport Department has made preparations for the safe and convenient operation of intercity and intracity buses. Drivers are being trained in the technology, operation and safety standards of electric and CNG buses to ensure their safe and smooth operation.
Panic Buttons and GPS to Enhance Safety
The buses will be equipped with panic buttons and GPS for passenger safety and monitoring. GPS will enable live tracking of buses, while panic buttons will enhance passenger safety during emergencies.
Intercity and Intracity Bus Services
Intercity and intracity bus services will connect cities and strengthen public transport within urban areas. Intercity buses will connect two or more cities, while intracity buses will operate within cities, providing passengers with more convenient and reliable travel options.
Bus Fleet to Increase Every Year, Target of 15,000 Buses by 2031
The State Government has set a target of expanding the bus fleet to 15,000 over the next five years. The Transport Department has prepared a phased action plan to add 2,500 to 3,000 new buses annually. This expansion will provide passengers across the state with more travel options.
Driver Training to Be Expanded, New Centres Coming Up
Drivers across the state will be trained in the safe operation of modern buses. Institutes of Driving Training and Research have been established in Indore and Chhindwara, where training is already underway.
Five Regional Driving Training Centres are also being established in Bhopal, Betul, Chhatarpur, Ujjain and Gwalior. In addition, 22 district-level driver training centres will soon be established.
These centres will train drivers in modern technology, safety standards and the operation of electric and CNG buses.
