Chhindwara’s Rural Retreats Offer a Taste of Tranquil Life: These Villages Join ‘Unexplored India’ Initiative, Attract Tourists from Major Cities
Nestled within the natural splendor of the Satpura range, villages in the Chhindwara district are carving a niche for themselves on the rural tourism map. Villages like Savarwani and Chhimitipur are drawing visitors from across India. This initiative, a collaboration between the Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board and 'Indiahikes,' has earned a place in the 'Unexplored India' tourism portfolio.
The first phase has received an excellent response, attracting tourists from 10 major cities, including Mumbai, Bengaluru, Pune, Hyderabad, and Delhi. The tourism program, which began in October, is set to continue through January.
Far from the hustle and bustle of crowded urban centers, visitors are enjoying the tranquil rural lifestyle, indigenous tribal culture, traditional cuisine, and the pristine natural beauty of the Satpura region. Tourists stay in 'homestays' curated by the Tourism Board, where local hosts welcome them with traditional hospitality.
The itinerary includes treks to Saptadhara and Rajakhoh, as well as a visit to the Anhoni Temple. Additionally, tourists can experience folk music, traditional dances, bullock-cart rides, and breathtaking sunrise views. The vibrant and diverse birdlife found within the Satpura forests further enhances the experience.
This initiative is expected to create new livelihood opportunities for local residents through homestays. Furthermore, it offers a unique chance to observe the region's rich flora and natural environment up close.
