Due to the impact of Cyclone Arnab, which originated in the Bay of Bengal, the weather in the Umaria and Shahdol districts—including the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve—has become pleasant. The region is experiencing light to moderate unseasonal rainfall, accompanied by winds blowing at speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour. In light of these weather conditions, the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve management is exercising caution and closely monitoring the situation.

Cyclone Arnab made landfall on the night of October 28, around 1:00 AM, along the coast between Bapatla and Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, near Narsapur and Yanam. At that time, wind speeds reached 125 to 135 kilometers per hour. After affecting the coastal regions, the remnants of the cyclone—in the form of moisture-laden winds—moved toward Central India, causing a change in weather across eastern Madhya Pradesh.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a 'Yellow Alert' for eastern Madhya Pradesh. According to the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve management, there have been no reports so far of harm to wildlife, fallen trees, or blocked routes. The current situation remains normal and under control.

All Tourism Zones Operating Normally

All tourism zones within the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve—including Tala, Magadhi, and Khitauli, as well as the core and buffer areas—are operating as usual. No tourism gates have been closed due to the weather. The management is taking necessary precautions to ensure the safety of tourists and the conservation of wildlife.

Field staff across the Tiger Reserve have been instructed to remain alert, continue regular patrols, and monitor low-lying areas for potential waterlogging. The Field Director and other officials have also visited various parts of the reserve to assess the situation resulting from the cyclone.

Instructions Regarding the Use of Hoods/Covers on Tourist Vehicles

In anticipation of increased rainfall in the coming days, instructions have been issued for all tourist vehicles to be equipped with hoods or covers, ensuring that tourists do not face any inconvenience during rain.

The Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve management is continuously monitoring weather conditions and remains vigilant regarding the safety of wildlife, the smooth conduct of tourism activities, and overall field operations.

The Field Director of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve has directed all relevant staff to exercise necessary precautions and to act with promptness in response to the prevailing conditions.
