Navami Celebrated with Faith and Devotion in Bhopal; 'Bhandaras' and 'Kanya Pujan' Organized; Grand Immersion Procession to Feature 200–250 Tableaus
Bhopal: On Monday, the ninth day of Sharadiya Navratri—'Maha Navami'—was celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion. Temples witnessed a massive influx of devotees who offered prayers to Goddess Durga, seeking blessings for happiness, prosperity, and well-being.
Special rituals were conducted in many places, including 'Kanya Pujan,' where young girls were worshipped, revered as manifestations of the Goddess.
'Bhandaras' (community feasts) were organized across the city, with devotees distributing food to the poor and the needy. These events reflected a spirit of faith, service, and charity, as people stepped forward to share the joy of the festival with the underprivileged sections of society.
Over 7,000 Idols to be Immersed
Meanwhile, preparations for the grand Durga idol immersion procession are in full swing. The procession is scheduled to commence at 7:30 PM on October 21 from the Central Library. It is expected to feature between 200 and 250 tableaus, including those arriving from Raisen, Vidisha, Sehore, and Ashta. Led by the 'Badi Maharani' idol from Shaheed Nagar, the procession will pass through Itwara, Mangalwara, Chhawani, Hanumanganj, Janakpuri, and Bhawani Chowk.
Over the course of three days, more than 7,000 idols will be immersed in Bhopal. The administration has deployed security personnel, divers, cranes, and other necessary equipment at designated 'ghats' to ensure that the immersion process is carried out safely and in an organized manner.
Given the expected movement of devotees and large crowds, robust arrangements for security, cleanliness, lighting, and drinking water have been made at these sites. The major ghats where the idols will be immersed include Rani Kamalapati Ghat, Prempura Ghat, Khatlapura Ghat, Shahpura Ghat, Malikedi Ghat, Hathaikheda Dam, and the Sant Hirdaram Nagar-Bairagarh immersion ghat.
