Counting of by-elections in four states of the country has started today including some seats of Hamirpur in the assembly by elections of Uttar Pradesh. Other seats are Dantewada in Chhattisgarh, Pala in Kerala, and Badharghat in Tripura is going on. BJP is leading from the seat while Congress is leading in Chhattisgarh's Naxalite affected Dantewada assembly seat

13 candidates have landed in the by-elections in Pala assembly constituency of Kerala. The by-elections were held here due to the death of former Finance Minister and Kerala Congress leader KM Mani. While Tripura's Badharghat seat is vacant due to the demise of BJP MLA Dilip Sarkar.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
