Former Andhra Pradesh speaker Kodela Shiva Prasad has committed suicide. Shiva Prasad was accused by the YSR Congress government of stealing furniture from the assembly. He was mentally ill for several days after which Shiva Prasad tried to commit suicide. He was brought to the Indo American Hospital in Hyderabad for treatment in critical condition. But he died during treatment

YSR Congress had filed corruption cases against Kodela Siva Prasad and his son and daughter. Kodela has also been accused of sending the table-chairs of the assembly to his son's showroom as a speaker. Investigation was also going on against him in this case. Kodela Shivprasad Rao was a doctor by profession. He had also served in the cabinet of NT Rama Rao and Chandrababu Naidu. He was the first speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
