It seems that the nearly 50-year-old relationship between the Dutt family and Congress is about to break and it will start with Sunil Dutt's only son Sanjay Dutt, who was expected to carry forward the political legacy of the family but not with Congress. Sanjay Dutt recently met Modi government minister Nitin Gadkari at his residence in Nagpur. Sanjay Dutt's meeting is raising many questions before the assembly elections in Maharashtra. According to suggested media reports and analyst it is being observed that soon actor Sanjay Dutt will take membership of the Bharatiya Janata Party and he can contest from any assembly seat in the Maharashtra at BJP ticket. Not only this, Mahadev Jankar, the cabinet minister of Maharashtra, has claimed that Sanjay Dutt will soon step into politics.
In a short history of political scenario of Sanjay Dutt's family, Sanjay Dutt's sister Priya Dutt is currently an MP of Congress from the Maharashtra Lok Sabha seat. Earlier, Sanjay Dutt's father Sunil Dutt was a well-known social worker, parliamentarian and sports minister in then Congress Government. Sunil Dutt has been a sarpanch of the Congress party and had a good relationship with the Gandhi family. Sunil Dutt's wife Nargis tried her luck not only in the glamorous world but also in politics. In 1980, her name was nominated for Rajya Sabha member but due to cancer, she could not make her place in Politics.
But this is just any perception as a while before when Sanjay Dutt came to Kapil Sharma show for promotion of his movie when asked about joining politics he had replied that he doesn't want to be a part in the team of donkey's as Kapil had referred politicians as team of donkey's. Still what happens we have to see and review later.
Dutt family with 'Emergency'
During the Emergency, on 29 June 1975 Harivansh Rai Bachchan, Amrita Pritam, Rajinder Singh Bedi, Maulana Atik-ul-Rehman, Kanwar Mohinder Singh Bedi had justified the move of the then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi to install Emergency. Apart from this, a letter Sunil Dutt had supported Indira Gandhi from Berlin in Germany via telegram supporting her emergency move. He said that the India is with you. People of Germany are also telling the Emergency right. You shouldn't be disturbed by any opposition, you should do what you feel is right. All India Radio was banned on the songs of famous singer Kishore Kumar, who justified Indira Gandhi's Emergency. Actor Dev Anand, protesting against the Emergency, had even formed a political party called the National Party of India. Whose big meeting also took place in Shivaji Park.
But this is just a perception as currently Sanjay Dutt has refused to step into politics.
