Today Hindi Day is being celebrated all over the country. September 14 is celebrated as Hindi Day. Hindi is our 'official language'. Hindi is the ancient, rich and simple language of the world. Hindi is spoken not only in India but in many countries of the world. Hindi is the third most spoken language in the world.

Hindi brings us respect all over the world. On September 14, 1949, the Constituent Assembly decided with one vote that Hindi will be the official language of India. After this decision, from 1953 on September 14, India was celebrated as Hindi Day every year on the request of Rashtrabhasha Prachar Samiti, Wardha to spread Hindi in every region.

What is the history of Hindi day?
By the way, India is a diverse country. Here each state has its own cultural, political and historical identity. Not only this, the dialect of all places is also different. Despite this, Hindi is the most spoken language in India. This is the reason why Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, called Hindi the language of the people. In the Hindi Literary Conference held in 1918, he asked to make Hindi the national language.

After long deliberations after independence, on 14 September 1949, it was decided in the Constituent Assembly to make Hindi the official language. Section 343 (1) of the chapter 17 of the Constitution of India, in reference to the making of Hindi as the official language, reads as follows, 'The official language of the Union shall be Hindi and the script Devanagari. The form of the marks used for the official purposes of the Union will be international form.

Why is Hindi Day celebrated?
India was a slave of the British for years. For this reason, the effect of that slavery was seen for a long time. Even its effect in the language. Although Hindi is the fourth language of the world which is spoken by most people, but despite this, Hindi is seen with inferiority in its own country. Generally speaking, the person speaking Hindi, backward and speaking in English, is called modern.
