Supreme Court Denies Anticipatory Bail To P.Chidambaram

A bench of Senior Judges A S Bopanna and R. Bhanumati of Supreme Court rejected anticipatory bail plea of P. Chidambaram after the bail plea rejection lawyers appearing for P. Chidambaram said that they have unconditionally decided to withdraw petition.  

After P. Chidambaram was refused bail from the highest court of Justice his lawyers have withdrawn his plea against his arrest in INX Money laundering case which have challenged his arrest and subsequently remand to CBI in the case.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
