Death Anniversary Of Ex PM Indira Gandhi


Today is the death Anniversary of Indira Gandhi, India's first Women Prime Minister of India.  Today is the day when she was assassinated by her own bodyguards Beant Sing and Satwant Singh.  She would always be remembered as an great Prime Minister of the country for her historic decisions she took which even took her life.  

She as the Prime Minister gave green signal to operation Bluestar.  This operation was against Bhinderwala and his terrorist group.  She was at that time was left with no choice but to give a green signal to this operation.  Because of her this decision she was martyred by her own body guards.   

On this day Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to her.  According to the tweet of PM Modi said, "Humble tribute to the former Prime Minister of the country, Mrs. Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary." Along with this, Home Minister Amit Shah also paid tribute to Indira Gandhi from Major Dhyanand Stadium in Delhi.

Along with them interim president of Congress Sonia Gandhi, former President Pranab Mukherjee, former Vice President Hamid Ansari as well as former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh have also paid tribute to Indira Gandhi.

Many veteran leaders of the Congress party gathered at Shakti Sthal in Delhi.  Indira Gandhi took over the reins of the country for three consecutive times between 1966 and 1977 and then reached the post again in 1980 and was assassinated on 31 October 1984 while still in office.
