Two New Union Territories In India From Today

From today India has been added with 2 new union territories. This historic decision of Modi government has came into force from today. 

Today is the birth anniversary of Sardar Ballabh Bhai Patel and on this day today to mark importance to the day two Union Territories Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh have come into existence.

As confirmed earlier President Ram Nath Kovind had approved Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act on 9 October 2019. 

The Home Ministry had said in a notification that in line with the powers conferred by the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganization Act, 2019, the Central Government has fixed the date of 31 October 2019 for this.

According to this law, Jammu and Kashmir will have a Legislative Assembly like Pondicherry and Ladakh will be a Union Territory without a legislature like Chandigarh, i.e. there will not be an Assembly.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
