An unique case of Fetus In Fetu is coming to the news from Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh, which is being reported by Pediatrics Dr. Animesh Gandhi.  According to Dr. Animesh a couple from rural area of Chhattisgarh brought their 6 day old girl baby to him for investigation as the girl was continuously crying in pain. On examination doctor found that the baby had a bloating stomach.  After initial investigation  Dr. Gandhi referred the baby for sonography and sonography report brought the matter to light and found out that the baby girl was carrying another another fetus inside her stomach.

Under medical terminology this condition is quite rare and it occurs one in 5 million living children.  According to the doctor around 200 cases around the world had been reported.  Only 9 to 10 cases have been reported in India so far.  The first such case was reported in the 18th century.

According to the doctor right now the baby is weighing 2.5 Kgs and at this weight and at this age, the doctor can't perform the operation to remove the fetus in her abdomen.  To have a green signal to the operation the baby weight should be around 4 Kg and have to wait for another four months.

According to the Radiologist Dr. Amit Modi who did sonography of the girl at the Law Diagnostic and Research Center in Rajnandgaon found that the six-day-old girl had a fetus in her stomach. The leg, hands and head part of this fetus have developed lightly while the heart and other organs have not developed yet.

According to Dr. Modi this type of investigation requires intensive study and experience.   When a mother is pregnant with twins and one child is not fully developed, then it takes place in the abdomen of the other child. After delivery, this fetus is found in the stomach of that newborn.

Dr. Gandhi said that twins develop from the sperm of the father and the egg of the mother. Many times these twins are born interconnected.  In a rare condition, one of these fetus gets into the stomach of another child. Pediatrician Dr. Gandhi said that through sonography, it has been found that the fetus found in the newborn baby's abdomen is not fully developed. Only hands, feet and head parts are made.  He said that at the moment the weight of the child is low.
