Widespread Protest In Assam Against Citizenship Amendment Bill

According to the latest repots heavy protest is still seen in some parts of the country since the passing of the Citizens Amendment Bill, but the maximum protest is seen in Assam.  Here the protesters ransacked railway stations and attacked the residence of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in Dibrugarh.  The protesters also threw stones at the Chief Minister's residence.  

In Guwahati and Dibrugarh, the police had to lathi-charge and fire rubber bullets to control the protesters.  It is being told that one person has also been injured in police shelling.

 The curfew is imposed in Guwahati, Assam on Wednesday, has been extended for unconscionability to handle law and order in view of the protests against the Citizens Amendment Bill.  To control the situation, the central government has decided to send 24 troops of more than five thousand paramilitary forces.  The troops are also called from Kashmir.

Apart from this, Internet services have also been stopped in 10 districts of Assam for 24 hours from 7 pm on Wednesday evening.  At the same time, SpiceJet, Vistara, IndiGo canceled all their flights to Assam till Friday following the ongoing protests in the Northeast over the Citizenship Amendment Bill.
