Will Nirbhaya's Mother Contest Elections

Patiala House court in Delhi has issued the death warrant of the four accused in the Nirbhaya gang-rape and murder case.  The four convicts will be hanged on January 22 at 7 am.

Now it is coming to news that Nirbhaya's mother, who has been trying and fighting for the death sentence of Nirbhaya's convicts for 7 years will now be trying the luck in politics?  

The dates for the Delhi assembly elections have been announced and according to sources Nirbhaya's mother who also lives in Delhi may be approached by political parties are in the process of giving tickets to Nirbhaya's mother for the Delhi Assembly elections.  Political parties believe that Nirbhaya's mother Asha Devi may prove to be a good and winning candidate of their parties.  However, Nirbhaya's mother Asha Devi has said that her first task is to see her daughter's culprits swinging on the gallows, after which she will think of contesting elections.

 A BJP leader has said that when Nirbhaya's mother can fight for her daughter for 7 long years to fight for justice then for such women to come into politics and work for the upliftment of women would be a blessing.  He also added that after hanging the culprits on January 22, they will be asked her to contest the assembly elections.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
