Supreme Court to hear plea against protest at Shaheen Bagh on Monday

The protest against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) has been going for more than 50 days now and the very recent update is that the Supreme Court will hear the pleas against CAA next week. The court cleared that they don’t want to influence the upcoming Delhi elections by hearing the pleas now, so the pleas will be heard on Monday.

The voting for the Delhi Assembly elections will take place tomorrow on 8th February and the results will come on 11th February.

Media and Entertainment sector lower downs 24% in 2020 despite last-quarter rebound

  India's media and entertainment (M&E) sector lower downed 24% to Rs1.38 trillion in 2020 due to the corona-virus pandemic. The contractions came despite a rebound in the last-quarter. The M&E sector is supposed to expand 25% to Rs1.73 trillion in 2021 and compound annual growth rate of 13.7% to Rs2.23 trillion by 2023, according to a joint report by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry(Ficci) and EY, finance consulting firm.  While advertisement revenues dropped 25% to 19,900 crore and subscriptions fell 20% to 15,400 crores. Digital advertisement remained unchanged, but print (Rs 8,400 crore) and television (Rs 6,900 crore) advertising saw the steepest declines. The only segments that rose in 2020 were digital and online gaming, which added a total of Rs 2,600 crore and their contribution to the M&E sector rose from 16% in 2019 to 23% in 2020.
