Sri Lankan Oil Tanker Caught Fire. Indian Navy Helping The Situation

Reports have been coming in from Indian Coast Guard where ICG assisted connect tow of distressed to tug ALP Winger & vessel being towed to safe waters.
As per reports this ship caught fire and could have destroyed life and property close to it. So it was towed away by Indian Coast guard.
This ship belongs to Sri Lanka. INS Sahayadri has been escorting this Sri Lankan Oil tanker New Diamond and monitoring the situation responsibly.
The ship has been towed 70-km away from Sri Lanka coast. Tug Alp Winger is handing over the tow to Tug TTT1 & joining fire-fighting efforts.
Joint team connected tow with Tug Alp Winger & towing of Sri Lankan oil tanker 'MT New Diamond' commenced.
Heavy smoke could be seen onboard. As per details shared by Indian Navy
