Shivraj Government Approves Love Jihad Act

The Shivraj government of Madhya Pradesh has approved the Anti-Love Jihad Bill, Freedom of Religion Bill 2020. The Shivraj cabinet has prepared 19 provisions approving the law. Under which the police will take action against the accused if there is a complaint in the religion conversion case, if a minor underage caste girl is seduced and married, the accused can get a 10-year term. And if someone marries in secret, his marriage will be considered void.

After approving the Love Jihad Act, Home Minister Narottam Mishra says that this bill will be brought in the legislative session starting on 28 December. He further said that we are not comparing any state, this is the biggest law of the country.

 Earlier the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh passed the Love Jihad Act in November. Under which the conversion of religion by deception will be punished up to 10 years. 

According to the Love Jihad law enacted in UP, forced marriage, deceit or coercion into force or conversion to religion is a non-bailable offense. 

Under the law, the accused can be sentenced to 10 years and a fine of Rs 15,000. While in the case of a minor and a Scheduled Caste woman, there can be a sentence of 3 to 10 years and a fine of Rs 25,000. Apart from this, a provision of 10 years sentence and a fine of Rs 50,000 has been made in the case of conversion.
