CAA to implented after corona vaccination ends: HM Amit Shah

Union Home Minsister Amit Shah today said that the process of granting India citizenship to refugees under the CAA, including the Matua community in West Bengal, will begin once vaccination of Covid-19 ends. He accused the opposition of misleading the minority citizens on the amended citizenship law, saying that the implementation of it would not affect the citizenship of Indian minorities. Shah said the Modi government had promised in 2018 that it would bring a new citizenship law and the promise was fulfilled as soon as the BJP came to power in 2019. He said it could not be implented in 2020 due to Covid-19 epidemic.

She said, Mamta didi said that we made a wrong promise. She starts opposing the CAA and says that she will never let it come into force. BJP always fulfulls its promises. We have brought this law and the refugees will get citizenship.

Addressing a rally in the Matua community stronghold, he said that the process of granting citizenship under the CAA would begin as soon as the vaccination process of Covid-19 is over. Matua are originally Hindus from the weaker sections of East Pakistan who migrated to India after Partition and the creation of Bangladesh. Many of them have got Indian citizenship but a large population is yet to get citizenship. Shah said Banerjee would not be in a position to oppose the implementation of the CAA as she would not be the chief minister after the assembly elections.
