Trump's decision reversed, America will join the United Nations Human Rights council

The Biden administration is expected to announce this week to rejoin the United Nations Human Rights council. Significantly, former President Donald Trump decided to separate the US from the Council three years ago. US officials gave this information.

This decision of the Biden administration will overturn another decision taken by the preceding Trump administration ragarding multilateral organizations and agreements. Trump decided in 2018 to secede from the United nation Human Rights Council. He raised some objections to the Council's stance towards Israel and its members. Trump had said that the council had failed to make the reforms suggested by the US. The Trump administration had objections to council member - china, Cuba, Eritrea, Russia and Venezuela  who have been accused of human rights violations.

A senior US official said the Biden administration believes reforms are needed in the council, but the right way to bring about change is to 'work together in principle.'
