Delhi govt lowered legal drinking age to 21


Manish Sisodia, Delhi's deputy chief minister, declared on Monday that the AAP government has lowered the minimum drinking age from 25 to 21 years.

Sisodia also announced, new liquor sale regulations to raise sales as a result, "Revenue growth is projected to increase by 20%"

The announcement also includes no new shops will be opened in the national capital. "No new stores have opened since 2016," he added.

"Outside these (liquor) vends, there is a jail-like atmosphere. To open a vending machine, you'll need at least 500 square feet. The main entrance will not open onto the street," the deputy CM said in a press briefing. 

Government will not run any liquor shops in the national capital as Delhi cabinet approved new excise policy, Sisodia added.
